Albert T. Rogers family papers, 1871-1957.

Summary: Collection consists of the papers of the Rogers family (Albert Jr., Helen, Waldo, and Albert Sr.). The bulk of the collection consists of Albert Jr.'s business, and legal papers (1898-1956). Legal papers include Supreme Court of New Mexico case records involving Raton, district court case records, and land grant case records involving the Maxwell, Preston Beck, Anton Chico, and Mora land grants. Also included are the records for the settlement of Leah Ilfeld's estate and one land grant map. Business papers include reports from the New Mexico Insane Asylum (1922) and an account book from Strong & Smyth (1871-1879). Rogers family papers include Albert Jr.'s and Helen's diaries (1921-1925), clippings and photographs pertaining to Waldo's political career, and the business records of Albert Sr. (1894-1936).

Rogers Jr. was an attorney who earned his law degree in 1897, practiced law in Las Vegas, and collaborated with A.A. Jones on land grant cases. Albert T. Waldo Henry Rogers, attorney and judge, was born on May 17, 1908. He was son of Las Vegas, New Mexico, attorney A.T. Rogers and Helen M. Waldo, daughter of Henry L. Waldo, Supreme Court Justice of the Territory of New Mexico. Early in his life, Rogers was kidnapped by his uncle, William Rogers, and an accomplice.
